Aspen Whitewater Rafting isn’t just about whitewater rafting – we’re also offering stand up paddleboard (SUP) rentals. Paddle boarding is a fun and easy way to explore our rivers for those who want an adventure at their own pace. We recommend renting our boards and exploring the North Star Nature Preserve, which is only 1.5 miles east of downtown Aspen on the Roaring Fork River. However, there are many locations to paddleboard including, but not limited to, Twin Lakes and Ruedi.
The North Star Nature Preserve is a beautiful, lazy river perfect for beginners and intermediate paddle boarders alike. It’s a beautiful nature preserve complete with a meandering river that includes fun tributaries and beaches. It’s the perfect leisurely activity for any family visiting Aspen who wants to enjoy nature but also be active and present for the experience. Paddling North Star allows for a mellow journey along slow-moving and calm waters.
For those hesitant about whitewater, paddle boarding is a great way to explore without the adrenaline rush of a whitewater raft trip. The North Star Nature Preserve’s river provides a great section to experiment with paddle boarding. For those who are hesitant, we recommend starting on your knees and moving to standing as you become more confident.
At Aspen Whitewater, you can rent a paddleboard for either four, eight, or twenty four hours. A stand up paddleboard (SUP) rental includes a paddle, a PFD (a personal flotation device) and a dry bag if necessary for the group. Our paddleboards are packable, however once deflated and packed, they will need to be re-inflated. We will provide a hand-pump. For an additional fee we can shuttle you to the North Star Nature Preserve.
