Guide

A Colorado native, I am hooked on the cycle that starts with snow sports that, as days get longer and warmer, transition to liquid-water sports. I’ve guided rafts and kayaked on and off for more than 20 years, including a little paddling through Mexico, Central and South America, and some east-coast action guiding a season on the Gauley. While not on the river or doing some other outdoor sport, I like to cook, garden, read, and sell kettle corn at the farmer’s market. I have a degree in geology from the University of Puget Sound that helps me appreciate the outdoor landscape and the geologic processes that created it. When summer is over, I am an elementary school teacher and I teach skiing and snowboarding on the weekends and holidays. I like to bring my teenage daughter on raft trips when I can, and this year she is working in the shop and shuttling paddle boards. Next summer, when she’s old enough, and if I raised her right, she’ll start guiding.
